Position Overview:

We have openings for Veterinarians at our Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals in Fort Collins & Greeley. As a veterinarian at Petco, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality care to pets and building strong relationships with pet parents and our veterinary team.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat diseases, and provide preventive care based on patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment.
• Utilize problem-based approaches to develop comprehensive problem lists, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plans, and treatment protocols.
• Document all patient interactions, findings, treatments, and diagnoses accurately in medical records.
• Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and dental surgeries.
• Develop treatment plans for hospitalized patients and ensure continuity of care through effective communication with referral hospitals.

Other Duties And Responsibilities:

• Participate in rounds and disseminate knowledge to improve care and communication within the hospital.
• Collaborate with the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director to maintain high standards of care.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Nature Of Supervision:

The Veterinarian will take direct supervision from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director. While the position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, veterinarians are leaders in patient care and are expected to uphold Petco Veterinary SOPs.

Planning And Problem Solving:

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills essential to veterinary medicine, ensuring expedient diagnosis and treatment of patient issues.

Education/Experience:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Active licensure as a veterinarian in the state of practice or ability to obtain by start date.
• Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License as required.
• USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire.
• Proficiency in anesthesia and routine surgeries, excellent communication skills, and compassion for pets and clients.

Work Environment:

The majority of duties are conducted in the Vetco Total Care veterinary hospital, involving direct client contact and occasional physical demands such as bending, kneeling, and lifting.

Contact:

Regular communication with clients, veterinary specialists, and suppliers.

Salary Range:

$72,150.00 - $153,400.00 per year, based on experience and location. Actual pay rates may vary.
