Maintenance Lead

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Team Lead at our Cedar Rapids Cereal plant is responsible for providing safety-driven and service-focused leadership across all three shifts. This role oversees the daily activities of maintenance mechanics, ensures operational efficiency, reduces unplanned downtime, and supports a continuous improvement environment. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical maintenance knowledge, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Provide maintenance leadership across all three shifts within the Cereal department.
• Serve as a resource for food and human safety compliance.
• Prioritize and assign daily work orders and tasks.
• Spend 30% of work time on the floor supporting teams and ensuring efficient operations.
• Lead and support daily DDS meetings to drive priority assignments.
• Track and communicate downtime events and maintenance data.
• Manage scheduling, labor allocation, repair parts, and vendor coordination.
• Ensure preventive maintenance and work orders are completed effectively.
• Assist in budget planning through tracking spending and forecasting costs.
• Develop and communicate Planned Maintenance job plans.
• Support capital projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Interface with Purchasing, Stores, and Receiving departments.
• Ensure GMP, OSHA, and food/human safety compliance in all maintenance activities.
